Daniel Gatthof [sic] and his children Joseph, a single farmer, Barbara (age 9), and Julianna (age 6) arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 27 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Слон (Slon - Elephant in Russian) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.
Son Joseph (age 23) and daughter Barbara (age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Leichtling in Household No. 18 along with Joseph's new wife Friederika. They had settled there on 14 May 1767.
Another probable daughter Anna Maria Gartenhof (age 21) is recorded on the 1767 census of Leichtling in Household No. 21 married to Andreas Sänger. They had arrived in Oranienbaum aboard the same ship as Daniel and his family.
Daughter Barbara is recorded on the 1798 census of Köhler in Household No. Kl35 married to Heinrich Belendir.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Joseph Gatthof [sic] came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Seligenstadt in the Mainz region.
