Stephan Gärtner & Engel [sic] Jakobi were married on 24 June 1765 in Roßlau.

Stephan Gärtner, a farmer, his wife Angelia [sic], and daughters (Anna Maria, age 2½; Magdalena, age ½) settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 12.

The 1767 census records that Stephan Gärtner came from the German village of Dagsburg in France.
