Johann Georg Gaus, a locksmith (Schlosser), his wife Maria, and son Heinrich (age 8) are recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou (No. 6) along with stepdaughter Sophia Dell (age 3).
The 1767 census records that they relocated to the Volga German colony of Näb in 1768.
The 1767 census also records that Johann Georg Gaus came from the German village of Olzfeld [?].
