Gecker / Geier / Gaif
Karl Gecker [sic], a weaver (Weber), and his wife Sophia settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 108.
Thomas Gecker [sic] from Katharinenstadt, believed to be the son of Karl Gecker, is recorded on the 1798 census of Basel in Household No. Bs24.
Thomas Geier [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Basel in Household No. 40.
The widow and children of Thomas Gaif [sic] are recorded on the 1857 census of Basel in Househod No. 72.
The 1767 census records that Karl Gecker came from the German region of Anhalt-Dessau.
