Mattias Geiger (age 39), a chemist (Chemicus), his wife Jakobina née Elsasser (age 27), and son Kaspar (age 9) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 42 along with a note that they have been Beurlaubt [on leave] in Kazan since 1775.
The Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Mattias Geiger came from the German village of Augsburg and that his wife came from the German village of Brackenberg in the Württemberg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Geiger family among the Volga German colonies.
