Geiger (Seelmann)*
Ksawerius Geiger, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Frei Gebruder under the command of Skipper Minzberger.
Franz Zacharius Greich [sic], and his wife Magdalena, widow of Johannes Schmidt, are recorded on the 1767 census of Leitsinger in Household No. 58 along with her surviving children (Johann Adam Schmidt, age 13; Maria Schmidt, age 9; Anna Katharina Schmidt, age 8) and a note that they relocated to the colony of Seelmann in 1768. They had settled in Leitsinger on 19 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ksawerius Geiger was a student while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.
The 1767 census records that Franz Ksawerius Geiger came from the German village of Lachen in the Kurbayern region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
