Jean Geran, a farmer, and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 26 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 54.

The 1767 census records that Jean Geran came from the French village of Bezanse [Besançon?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
