Discussion & Documentation

Johann Georg Glock, son of Johann Stephan & Anna Katharina Glock, was born on 10 May 1731 and baptized on 12 May 1731 in the Babenhausen Evangelical Church about 25 kilometers southeast of Frankfurt. He married Maria Margaretha Dietz, daughter of Konrad Dietz, on 4 December 1755 in the Schaafheim Evangelical Church near Babenhausen.

They had a daughter, Anna Katharina, who was born 5 September 1756, and baptized on 7 September 1756 in Schaafheim.

Johann Georg Glock, saltpeter maker (Salpetersieder), his wife Maria, and daughters (Katharina, age 10¼; Friederika, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Hans Christian Korsholm.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Straub where they arrived on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 2.

Johann Georg's widow is still living in Straub in 1798 and is recorded there in Household No. Sr22. His son Heinrich is recorded in Household No. Sr39.
