Johann Christian Göbel, son of Johann Adam Göbel & Anna Martha Schlegel, was born in Ellingerode on 10 December 1735 and baptized on 11 December 1735.
Johann Christian Göbel married on 23 February 1766 in Landefeld to Catharina Kehr née Döring, widow of Andreas Kehr [see Kehr Family].
Christian Göbel, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and [step-]children (Johann [Kehr], age 15½; Anna [Kehr], age 10) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.
Christian Göbel, his wife Katharina, and [step-]children (Johann [Kehr], age 14; Anna Martha [Kehr], age 5) are recorded on the 1767 census of Moor in Household No. 70.
The 1775 census records Christian Göbel, his wife Katharina, his stepson Burghardt [Kehr], and his stepson's wife Katharina.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Göbel came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that he came from the German region of Isenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Göbel family among the Volga German colonies.
