Discussion & Documentation

Orphans Barbara Grapp (age 11) and her sister Franziska (age 10) settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 30 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 50 along with the Johann Georg Pauly family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Grapp and the Pauly families.

The 1767 census records that Barbara Grapp came from the German village of Hahn in the region of Hessen-Kassel.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
