Discussion & Documentation
Johann Jakob Gropp, a farmer, and his mother Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov along with Johann Jakob's sister Anna Elisabeth Brill and her family.
Neither Johann Jakob nor his mother appear to have survived the journey from Oranienbaum to the Volga German colony of Norka where Anna Elisabeth Brill and her family settled in 1767.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Gropp family among the Volga German colonies.
