Johann[es] Haas, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 28 July 1766 aboard a Russian pink named Vologda [an historic Russian city] under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Bartenyev.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42 along with his new wife Katharina [Junker].
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann[es] Haas was a cobbler from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that he was a farmer from the German village of Nidda in the Darmstadt region.
