Johannes Hagenberg, weaponsmith (Waffenschmidt) from Lautenbach, & Anna Juliana Schmidt née Wilhelm, also from Lautenbach, were married on 19 June 1766 in Pastor Bruns's house in Lübeck. The marriage is recorded in the parish register of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church in Lübeck.
Johann Hagenberg, a locksmith (Schlosser), his wife Anna, and their daughter Elisabeth (age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Shcherbakovka on 7 August 1767. Widower Johann Hagenberg (erroneously recorded as Aganberg) is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 49 along with 3 orphaned Frankfurt children.
The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Hagenberg and Frankfurt families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hagenberg came from the German village of Lauterbach while the 1767 census records that he came from the German region of Riedesel.
There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this family among the Volga German colonies.
