[Heinrich] Adam Hammel, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Heinrich Adam Hammel and his wife Katharina are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 23 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 80 along with their 6-month-old daughter Anna.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Adam Hammel came from the German region of Nassau while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Wiesbaden.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hammel family among the Volga German colonies.
