Discussion & Documentation

Anton Hammer[ich], a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and [step]daughters (Anna Maria, age 17; Katharina, age 15 [surnames not recorded]) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Heidemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 113.

The 1767 census records that Anton Hammerich came from the German village of Erbach in the Kurtrier region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
