Discussion & Documentation

Peter Hansen, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Mariental on 16 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 25.

The 1767 census records that Peter Hanses came from the German village of Geske near Köln.

One 1798 census translation erroneously records this surname as Ganz.
