Johann Adam Hartmann from Dalheim near Limpurg & Anna Maria Burck from Walmerath in the area of Kurtrier were married on 28 April 1766 in Friedberg.
Johann Adam Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 10; Susanna, age 6; Johann, age 5; Margaretha, age 12 [perhaps ½]) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard a ship named Der Ringende Jacob (The Wrestling Jacob) under the command of Skipper Johann Heitmann.
Johann Adam Hartmann (age 36), a farmer, his wife Anna Maria (age 24), daughters from his first marriage (Anna Maria, age 13; Anna Margaretha, age 10), and daughter by his second marriage (Katharina, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 97. Newest daughter Anna Katharina had been born 1 March 1767 in Kolumna [Russia] while in route to the colonies along the Volga River. They had arrived in Preuss on 16 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Adam Hartmann came from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Hartmann came from the German village of Niederzeuzheim in the Nassau region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hartmann family among the Volga German colonies.
