Johann Adam Hartmann from Dalheim near Limpurg & Anna Maria Burck from Walmerath in the area of Kurtrier were married on 28 April 1766 in Friedberg.
Johann Adam Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 10; Susanna, age 6; Johann, age 5; Margaretha, age 12 [perhaps ½]) arrived from Lubeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Heidemann.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 16 August 1767. Johann Adam Hartmann and the surviving children are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 97 along with his wife Anna Maria and daughter Katharina (age 1).
The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Hartmann came from the German village of Niederzeuzheim in the Nassau region.
