There are two Hassenpflug families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott. Both of them settled in the Volga German colony of Norka. Their relationship to each other is not recorded, but they are presumed to be siblings.
(1) Johann Heinrich Hassenpflug & Anna Regina Schmidt of Altenschlirf were married in Büdingen on 29 May 1766. Anna Regina Schmidt, daughter of Johannes Schmidt, was baptized in Altenschlirf on 22 October 1748. From the way the marriage record is written, it is unclear whether it is only Anna Regina or both of them who are from Altenschlirf.
Johann Hassenflug, a farmer, and his wife Regina arrived in Oranienbaum.
Anna Regina arrived in Norka on 15 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 144 as a widow.
(2) Johannes Hassenpflug (age 18), arrived in Oranienbaum as the servant of Heinrich Döring. [See Döring Family.]
Orphan Johannes Hassenpflug (age 18), son of the deceased Johannes Hassenpflug, is recorded on the 1767 census of Norka in Household No. 150 along with the Johann Heinrich Döring family.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hassenpflug family among the Volga German colonies.
