Discussion & Documentation

Johann Ludwig Heidelbach, a saddle maker (Sattler), and his wife [Anna] Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Perepechin.

Ludwig Edelbach [sic] and his wife Anna Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Müller on 16 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Ludwig Heidelbach came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Ludwig Edelbach [sic] came from the German village of Herdorf.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Heidelbach among the Volga German colonies.
