Heidenreich (Walter)*

Johann Herman Heidenreich from Aufenau and Sophia Höltz, daughter of Johann Conrad Höltz from Hellstein, were married on 21 August 1750 in Hellstein.

The baptisms of three children of their children are recorded in Hellstein: (1) Maria Christina, baptized 7 March 1751; (2) Barbara Elisabeth, baptized 24 November 1754; and (3) Margaretha Elisabeth, baptized 14 December 1757. Sophia died on 4 June 1760, and Herman remarried on 6 November 1760 to Anna Catharina Stein, daughter of Johann Caspar Stein from Michelau. Herman and Anna Catharina had one child in Hellstein: Anna Catharina, baptized 10 May 1764.

Hermann Heidenreich, his wife Katharina, and children (Christina, age 18; Margaretha, age 13; Elisabeth, age 9; Katharina, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Walter on 25 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Hermann Heidenreich was a farmer from the German region of Isenburg while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker) from the German village of Hebstahl.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Heidenreich family among the Volga German colonies.
