Johann Heindlein, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.
Joh. Conrad Heindlein is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johann Konrad Henlein [sic], a miller (Müller), and his [new] wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Bettinger on 3 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Heindlein came from Switzerland. The 1767 census records that Johann Konrad Henlein [sic] came from the German village of Hilpoltstein.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Heindlein family among the Volga German colonies.
