Two Helbert families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a pinque named Каргополь (Kargopol: a Russian City) under the command of Captain Lieutenant Moses Davydov. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Franz Joseph Helbert, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria and son Johann Philipp (age ½) arrived in Oranienbaum.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Köhler on 21 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.
Johann Georg Helbert from Köhler is recorded on the 1834 census of Pfeifer in Household No. 142.
(2) Melchior Helbert, a farmer, and his wife Susanna Katharina arrived in Oranienbaum.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Helbert families came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Franz Joseph Helbert came from the German region of Miltenberg.
