Karl Hellmann, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and children (Maria Barbara, age 18; Johann, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard the pink Cargo under the command of Lieutenant Moses Davydov.
Karl settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 50 living with his daughter Maria Barbara and her new husband Johannes Hessler.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Karl Hellmann came from the German region of Dienheim.
