Helwig (Zürich)
Jakob Helwig, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Jakob Helwig is recorded on an appendix of Beauregard recruits to the 1767 census in Household #34 along with his new wife Katharina [Schmidt].
He is recorded on the 1798 census of Volga German colony of Zürich in Household No. Zr23.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jakob Helwig came from the German region of Hessen. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Völkershausen.
