Christian Henning, a farmer, and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Catharina Eleonora under the command of skipper Peter Roeder.
Johann Christian Hennings [sic], a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29.
Widower Christoph [sic] Hennings [sic] and his children (Johann Christoph, age 23, Gotthilf David, age 13; Charlotta, age 11; Karl Jakob, age 10; Christian, age 9) are recorded on the 1798 census of Schäfer in Household No. Sf08 along with a note that youngest son Christian is living with relatives in Rosenheim.
Son Christoph Henning and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schäfer in Households No. 19 and 54.

David Henning and his family are recorded on the 1850 census of Katharinenstadt in Households No. 56, 57. 58, & 59).
The death of David Henning in 1857 is recorded on the 1857 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 62.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Christian Henning came from the German region of Holstein. The 1767 census records that Johann Christian Hennings [sic] came from the German village of Wesselburen in the Holstein region.
