Discussion & Documentation

Adam Herdt, a farmer, his wife Maria [Barbara], and children (Johann [Andreas], age 9; Anna, age 1½) arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perpepechin.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Schwed on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.

The 1767 census records that Adam Herdt came from the German village of Eckert in the region of Isenburg.
