Discussion & Documentation
Johann Hermann, a soldier (Soldat), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 42 along with stepson Johann Bolk.
The 1767 census records that Johann Hermann came from the Swedish town of Lund and that his wife came from the German village of Bernburg in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
There are no known surviving male lines of this Herrmann family among the Volga German colonies.
