Johann Jakob Herrlein, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and daughters (Maria Elisabeth, age 17; Katharina, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Brabander in Household No. 33. They had settled there on 11 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Johann Jakob Herrlein came from the German village of Genkingen in the Siekingen region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Herrlein family among the Volga German colonies.
