Johann Hülst, son of Just Wilhelm Hülst & Johanna Elisabeth Juncker, was born 13 August 1747 and baptized on 17 August 1747 in Gedern.

Johannes Hilß is recorded on the list of immigrants by Johann Facius: Actum Aufenau den 10 Februar 1766 Johannes Hilß, 18 Jahre alt, ledigen Standes, von Gedern, ein guter Ackerknecht, evangelischer Religion [Gathering at Aufenau on 10 February 1766 was Johannes Hils, 18-years-old, single, from Gedern, a good farmhand, Lutheran].

Johannes Hills [sic], a single farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Reinwald in Household No. 61.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Hills came from the German village of Gedern in the region of Stolberg.
