Stephan Hofesass, a farmer, and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 6 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.

The 1767 census records that Stephan Hofessas came from the German village of Roding.
