Johann Adam Hoffman from Gelnhaar married on 20 October 1757 in Wenings to Anna Margaretha [surname not recorded].

The baptisms of four children were recorded in the Wenings parish records: (1) Anna Elisabeth, born 24 March 1759; (2) Johann Heinrich, born 9 June 1761; (3) Johannes, born 30 September 1763; and (4) Anna Catharina, born 15 October 1765.

Johann Adam Hoffmann, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Elisabeth, age 7½; Johann Heinrich, age 5; Johann, age 3; Katharina, age¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Die Frau Dietrika under the command of Skipper Joachim Friedrich Luhn.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach according to researcher Susan Hopp Nakaji.
