Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Holzvogt, a wagon maker (Wagenbauer), his wife Anna, and daughter Elisabeth (age 2-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 153. They had arrived there on 17 August 1767.

Friedrich Holzvogt (age 40), a wheel maker (Radmacher), his wife Sophia Haas (age 40), and sons (Christian Samuel, age 7; Johann, age 3) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 121 along with a note that they were on leave [beurlaubt] in Kazan.

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Holzvogt came from the German village of Parchim in the Mecklenburg region. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that he came from the same place and that his wife came from the village of Güstrow.
