Johann Hubert, a single hunter (Jäger), settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 16 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 135 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Brabander in 1768.
The 1767 census records that Johann Hubert came from the German village of Messelgrube [?] in the Kurmainz region. [Messelgrube is believed to refer to the now abandoned quarry located just south of the village of Messel.]
