Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Valentin Jäckel was born in Wald-Michelbach (west of Weinheim in Hessen) on 19 April 1720. He married in Wald-Michelbach on 17 January 1751 to Anna Margaretha Hild. She had been born on 3 September 1725. They immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein).

Valentin Jäckel, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Anna Margaretha, age 16; Johann Nikolaus, age 11; Johann Georg, age 7; Georg Valentin, age 3; Eva [Magd]Elena, age ½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the galliot Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

Siblings Johann Nikolaus [Jäkel] (age 16), Johann Valentin [Jäkel] (age 10), and Eva Magdalena [Jäkel] (age 8) are recorded on the 1775 census of Beideck in Household No. 68 as the stepchildren of widower Franz Heinrich Becker.

Nikolaus Jäkel and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Beideck in Household No. Bd17.

[Georg] Valentin Jäkel and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Beideck in Household No. Bd10.

[There is a Valentin Jäckel who on 16 April 1766 married Barbara Heizenröder in Lübeck, but it is doubtful that this is the same Valentin Jäckel whose children later settled in Beideck.]
