Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Peter Jäkel and his brother Johann Ludwig Jäkel immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in the city of Schleswig on 30 May 1761.

The parish register of Hohn [Denmark] records the marriage on 1 June 1762 of Peter Ulrich Jäckel [sic] to Anna Maria Gries.

The parish register of Hohn also records the baptisms of two sons born to Peter Jäckel & Anna Maria Griersen: (1) Johann Adam, baptized 16 September 1763; and (2) Johann Philipp, baptized 21 November 1764.

They requested dismissal from the Danish colonies on 1 May 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.

Peter and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 15 March 1766.

Peter died and his widow remarried to Gottlieb Schatz.

Gottlieb Schatz, a nailsmith [Nagelschmied], his wife Anna Maria, children (Elisabeth, age 7; Gottfried, age 5), and stepchildren (Johann Adam Jäckel, age 4; Philipp Jäckel, age 3) are recorded on the 1767 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 7.

The Eichhorns record that the Jäkel brothers came from the German village of Lützelbach (Amt Lichtenberg) in the region of Hessen-Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Widow Anna Maria Jäkel came from the German village of Zwingenberg in the Darmstadt region.
