Nikolaus Japiert (age 31), a carpenter (Tischler), his wife Maria Margaretha [maiden name not recorded] (age 28), and son Franz (age 8) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 173 along with a note that they have been Beurlaubt [on leave] in Saratov since 1772.
The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Nikolaus Japiert came from the town of Liege and that his wife came from the village of Haffeliesse in the region of Liege.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
