Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Jung, his wife, and his step-son, Georg Opel, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Maria Sophia under the command of Skipper Johann Bauert.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 11 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 107.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Jung is a farmer while the 1767 census records that he is a miller (Müller).

The 1767 census records that Friedrich Jung is from the German village of Eutingen in the Baden-Durlach region.

There do not appear to be any surviving male descendants of this Jung family among the Volga German colonies.
