Discussion & Documentation

There are two Junkers from Kaulstoß who settled in the Volga German colonies. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Stephan Junker was born 15 February 1732 in Kaulstoß.

Johannes Stephan Juncker from Kaulstos & Christina Kuhl, daughter of Johann Friedrich Kuhl from Birstein, were married on 19 April 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Stephan Junker, a farmer, and his wife Christina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767. Stephan is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 52 along with his new wife Susanna.

Widow Katharina Juncker is recorded on the 1798 census of Krasnoyar in Household No. Ks046.

The Facius List records that Johannes Stephan came from the German village of Kaulstoß. Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Stephan Junker came from the German region of Darmstadt.

(2) Julianna Junker, daughter of Johann Ludwig Junker of Kaulstoß, married on 13 June 1752 in Kaulstoß to Johann Christoph Kaiser.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana. [See Kaiser Family.]

There are no known surviving male lines of this Juncker family among the Volga German colonies.
