Philipp Karp, a farmer, and his wife Barbara settled in the Volga German colony of Reinwald on 14 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.

The 1767 census records that Philipp Karp came from the German village of Rehburg in the Hessen-Kassel region and that his wife Barbara came from the German region of Württemburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
