Martin Kasanski, a hat maker (Hutmacher), his wife Maria Rogel [?], and their sons (Lorenz, age 17; Theobald, age 15; Heinrich, age 7; and Elias, age 3) settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 1 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 50.

The 1767 census records that Martin Kasanski came from the German village of Len [?] in Prussia.
