[Johann] Gottlieb Käther, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Maria, and son Johann (½-year old) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Gottlieb is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Kaneau (No. 45) along with his new wife Anna. Gottlieb Käther is recorded on the 1798 census of Zürich in Household No. Zr09.
The death of Gottlieb Ketter in 1824 is recorded on the 1834 census of Zürich in Household No. 16.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Gottlieb Käther came from the German region of Sachsen (Saxony). The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Käther came from the German village of Friedland in Sachsen (Saxony).
