Discussion & Documentation

Johann Adam Kaufmann, a farmer, and his wife Katharina Rosina settled in the Volga German colony of Shcherbakovka on 15 June 1765.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 24.

The 1798 census of Frank records the children of Adam Kaufmann from Shcherbakovka in Household No. Fk089.

The 1767 census records that Johann Adam Kaufmann came from the German region of Aßling [?].

Eichhorn book records that a Johann Adam Kaufmann from the Principality of Hohenlohe immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1762, but it has not been confirmed that this is the same Johann Adam Kaufmann who eventually settled in the Volga German colony of Shcherbakovka.
