Kembel / Kempel (Moor)
Johann Melchior Kempel, son of Conrad Kempel, was baptized on 4 August 1713 in Mauswinkel. He married on 21 February 1741 to Anna Margaretha Preis, the widow of Christophel Eÿßenhuth [see Eisenhuth family].
Johann Melchior & Anna Margaretha had at least three children, each born in Mauswinkel: (1) Johann Philipp, born 5 April 1743, baptized 7 April 1743; (2) Johann Conrad, born 30 April 1745, baptized 2 May 1745; and (3) Anna Elisabetha, born 21 November 1747, baptized 29 November 1747.
Anna Margareatha Kempel née Preis died 25 April 1754. Johann Melchior Kempel remarried in April 1755 to Anna Catharina Bauscher, daughter of Johannes & Anna Elisabetha Bauscher. She had been baptized 10 May 1713 in Mauswinkel.
Melchior Kempel, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann [Philipp], age 23; Konrad, age 22; Anna, age 19) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat under the command of Midshipman Mankensey.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Moor on 18 June 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 25 & 26.
Konrad Kempel and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Moor in Household No. Mo38.
David Kempel from Moor and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Wiesenmüller.
The 1767 census records that Melchior Kempel came from the German district of Isenburg.
