Discussion & Documentation
Gottfried Krebst, a baker (Bäcker), his wife Katharina, and stepsons (Christian Friehof, age 13; Gottfried Friehof, age 11) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 47 along with a note that they resettled to the colony of Basel in 1768. They had arrived in Kaneau on 3 August 1767.
The 1767 census records that he was a baker (Bäcker) from the German village of Krina.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
