Michel Kern, son of Henrich Kern, married on 16 January 1749 in Rothenbergen to Elisabetha Wilhelm, daughter of Caspar Wilhelm. Elisabetha Wilhelm had been baptized in Rothenbergen on 27 February 1729.
The baptisms of several children of Michel Kern & Elisabetha Wilhelm are recorded in the parish register of Rothenbergen: (1) Johanna Maria, born 19 October 1751, baptized 24 October 1751; (2) Anna Elisabetha, baptized 27 June 1754, died 21 November 1755; (3) Johannes, baptized 27 October 1755, died 21 August 1759; and (4) Johann Michel, born 1 August 1759, baptized 5 August 1759.
Michel Kern died 20 August 1759. Elisabetha Kern née Wilhelm remarried on 12 January 1764 in Rothenbergen to Johann Heinrich Schleucher, son of Heinrich Peter & Elisabetha Margaretha Schleucher.
Michael Kern (age 9) and his sister Maria (age 18) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 August 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov along with their mother Elisabeth and step-father Heinrich Schleuger. [See Schleuger Family.]
They settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 8 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 99.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Kern family among the Volga German colonies.
