Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Gottlieb Kettler (age 17) and his sister Sophia (age 16), children of the deceased Johann Kettler, settled in the Volga German colony of Kamenka on 6 July 1765.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2 along with the Johann Bauer family. A note on the 1767 census records that they are actually living with the Johann Georg Plattner family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Kettler, Bauer, and Plattner families.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Kettler came from Switzerland.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
