Jakob Günther, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 27 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Слон (Slon - Elephant in Russian) under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov along with servant Jakob Kiel (age 20). [See Günther Family.]
Jakob Kiel (age 20), a farmer, and his [new] wife Magdalena Fuhr (age 19) are recorded on the 1767 census of Hildmann in Household No. 10. They had arrived in Hildmann on 14 May 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list does not record from where Jakob Kiel came. The 1767 census records that Jakob Kiel came from the German village of Steinheim.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Kiel family among the Volga German colonies.
