Discussion & Documentation

Andreas Klapp, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Messer on 18 June 1767. He married widow Anna Katharina Schmidt, and they are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 61, along with her son Peter Schmidt.

The death of Andreas Klapp in 1816 is recorded on the 1834 census of Messer in Household No. 13.
