Gottfried Klemann [sic], his wife Elisabeth, and [step-]son Johann Christoph [Retz] (age 15) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Gottfried Klehmann, a farmer, and his wife Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 34 along with her son from a previous marriage [surname Retz] (Christoph, age 16). They had settled in Kaneau on 3 August 1767.
The 1767 census records that Gottfried Klehmann came from the German region of Dessau.
