Johann Kletner, a weaver (Weber), his wife Margaretha, and daughter Marianna (age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.
Johan Gletner [sic] and his wife Margretha are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johann Kletterer [sic], a widowed farmer, is recorded on the 1767 census of Seelmann in Household No. 84 along with a note that his unnamed wife had died on 7 October 1767. They had arrived in Seelmann on 24 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Kletner came from the German region of Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Johann Kletterer [sic] came from the German village of Eschenbach.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
